UK Ineos Authorized for 1st Shale Gas Exploration in Derbyshire - Planning Inspectorate

The UK Ineos Upstream Ltd company, providing oil and gas exploration services, has been authorized for the first shale gas exploration in the county of Derbyshire, central England, Elizabeth Hill, the planning inspector, said in a decision on Thursday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) The UK Ineos Upstream Ltd company, providing oil and gas exploration services, has been authorized for the first shale gas exploration in the county of Derbyshire, central England, Elizabeth Hill, the planning inspector, said in a decision on Thursday.

In June, during an eight-day inquiry the UK Planning Inspectorate considered Ineos appeal against Derbyshire County Council over delays in rending a decision on the company's application for a vertical coring well in the Derbyshire village of Marsh Lane.

"The appeal is allowed and planning permission is granted for the construction of a well site and creation of a new access track, mobilisation of drilling, ancillary equipment and contractor welfare facilities to drill a vertical hydrocarbon exploratory core well and mobilisation of workover rig, listening well operations, and retention of the site and wellhead assembly gear for a temporary period of 5 years on land adjacent to Bramleymoor Lane, near Marsh Lane, Derbyshire," the decision said.

In June, Ineos won another appeal over delay in deciding the company's application for shale gas exploration and was granted a permission for exploration works at a site in the village of Harthill in South Yorkshire county.
