Ukraine's Finance Ministry Hopes To Get 2nd Tranche Of EU's Macro-Financial Aid In Spring
Ukraine expects to receive the second tranche of the European Union's macro-financial assistance worth 500 million euros ($565 million) in late March or in April, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oksana Markarova said on Tuesday
"It is realistic [to receive the second tranche] at the end of March or in April. We are now working on the implementation of requirements, namely on two bills that are necessary for receiving the macro-financial aid as well as customs service reforms," Markarova was quoted as saying by the UNIAN news agency.
Last September, Ukraine and the European Union signed a memorandum of understanding for providing macro-financial assistance of up to 1 billion euros in the form of medium- and long-term loans to Kiev.
According to the European Commission, the assistance program launched in September complements three previous similar EU's financial aid programs through which Ukraine received 2.8 billion euros since the start of the crisis in its eastern Donbas region in 2014.
