"This year a lot of Chinese companies, including automobile and engineering ones, will participate in the 60th Damascus International Fair. The Chinese party encourages strengthening of contacts between the Chinese and Syrian businesses and is engaged in consultations with Syria in order to get security guarantees," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry also added that the Chinese enterprises were interested in the development of trade and economic cooperation with Syria.
"The Chinese authorities are encouraging the Chinese companies to continue strengthening contacts with the Syrian enterprises and to examine the opportunities for cooperation in the event that safe working conditions are guaranteed," the ministry added.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in turn, told Sputnik that fight against terrorism, dialogue and reconstruction of the country were the main issues that required special attention and efforts in order to resolve the Syrian crisis.
"Only sustainable development and steady progress in the country's reconstruction can give hope to the Syrian people and ensure long-term order and stability," the Foreign Ministry said.
