Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has expressed hope that Government College Hyderabad will soon receive the status of university.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, the
governor said this during a meeting with a delegation led by the College's Principal Dr. Nasiruddin Shaikh.
Former federal secretary and vice chancellor of
Sindh University Mazharul Haq Siddiqi, former MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput and Prof Nazir Ahmed Qasi, who all are part of the alumni, accompanied Shaikh.
The principal informed the
governor that the college last year celebrated 100 years of its establishment.
He said the college was established in 1917 and over the period of a
century it had produced thousands of luminaries who served the country and the society in various walks of life.
Shaikh further apprised the
Governor that the Sindh Government in 2017 had announced that the college would be upgraded into the university.
Sindh Assembly approved the bill for establishment of the university but a notification in this regard hasn't been issued," he told.
