Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th March, 2019) Auditor General of Pakistan has recommended President Arif Alvi to withdraw the tax exemption from Behria University that has turned into a profit earning organization. In this connection Auditor General forwarded a report to President of Pakistan in which it is stated that Behria university was registered as a non profitable organization but it charges the hefty fees f Rs 100,000 per semester from every student.

The university is granted the exemption of Rs 60.40 million each year , whereas on the other hand it does not offer any relaxation to its students, contrary to its assurance of imparting cheap education to youth.

As per rules and regulations ,each university has to submit the details of personalities and organizations , who finance its different projects every year but the administration of Behria university has failed to present list of donors so far that is itself a illicit move but HEC could not take any action against it .The report said that the National Tax Number (NTN) of the university is 2132767 and it is getting exemption in the tax since 2001.

The Auditor General also suggested that the tax of entire exemption period should be recovered from the management of the university and deposited into national exchequer.
