AJK To Have Its Own Board Of Technical Education Soon

Under the spirit to ensure the delivery of quality technical education in various disciplines to the youth in Azad Jammu Kashmir, the AJK government has decided to set up a full-fledge Government College of Technology and AJK Board of Technical Education in near future, it was officially said
Decision to this effect was taken in a high level meeting of TEVTA chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Thursday.
The meeting also accorded approval for setting up a Vocational Training Institutes in district Jhelum Valley and district Haveli Kahuta. Posts for both the technical institutions have already been created so that classes could be launched soon.
The meeting also approved the setting up of a Bhimber Technical College and construction of Technical College building at Rawalakot. Official sources said that the technical hands in AJK would be provided further technical training. They would be issued certificates of international standard after routine tests so that they could find employment opportunities in foreign countries.
On this occasion Secretary TEVTA gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on the ongoing projects and future strategy.
The meeting was told that Wood Production Centers had been set up at Lamnian and Athmuqam. Handicraft centers had been established in Muzaffarabad.
Some 580 youth had been given training of different cadres with the cooperation of private hotels and institutions while 300 youth were provided training of heavy machinery. About 100 youth were provided training course of health technician.
The meeting was further told that various projects were underway for the promotion of modern technical education. TEVTA was working in line with the vision of Prime Minister for promotion of modern and quality technical training.
Addressing the meeting Prime Minister Farooq Haider said that unemployment percentage in AJK was much higher than Pakistan. He said provision of technical education to youth was one of the top priorities of the government.
TEVTA would be provided all resources in this connection, he added. He said it was the only way we could overcome unemployment in the State. Public sector was incapacitated to provide jobs to all the educated youth.
He said we are endeavoring to provide quality technical education to prepare the youth for employments in foreign countries.
He directed TEVTA to set up a display center at Islamabad for the products that are being prepared in AJK. He assured that government would provide land and other resources for the display center.
He said such display centers should also be at all entry points of the State. He also asked TEVTA to compile data of all the technical hands in AJK which should be uploaded on a website. It would give institutions access to those technical hands.
Minister for TEVTA Mustafa Bashir Abbasi told the Prime Minister that his institute was working under a comprehensive strategy to combat the unemployment and other challenges. He said we would introduce technical education at school and college level in the State.
The Prime Minister was given briefing by Information Technology Board on the ongoing and completed IT projects. The Premier directed IT board to computerize the land record of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Bhimber cities and Charhoi and Khuiratta Tehsils.
He also directed for launching citizens' portal so that citizens of AJK could lodge their complaints direct to PM Secretariat.
