Balochistan Govt Launches ALP To Eliminate Illiteracy: Secretary Education

The Government of Balochistan has launched Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) to eliminate illiteracy in the province besides bringing maximum out of school children to the educational institutions.

The provincial government was taking steps to increase the enrollment ratio, and planned to enhance the community schools in those areas, where no government schools were existed, said Education Secretary Baluchistan, Noorul Haq Baloch on Friday.
Talking to APP, he said the provincial government had allocated Rs 500 million in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the project to establish 100 more ALP centers in far-flung areas of the province.
He said aim of the project of community schools was to impart quality education in collaboration with locals.
The community school program, he said was started three years ago in eight districts of Balochistan with the help of UNICEF and imparted education to 12,000 students.
"Under the learning programme, more than 4,000 students will acquire education at Primary level each in five years." The teacher will be paid ten rupees per students on daily basis while the schools will be run by the community.
He underlined the need of community's involvement for improving educational facilities in the province through ALP centers.
He also informed that more girls were sent to community schools than boys, adding this trend would ensure positive change in the society.
He further said that there was an opportunity for out of school children aged between 9 to 13 years to learn from advance program.
The children aged between 9 to 13 studying in religious seminaries would also be provided formal education in ALP schools, he told.
The Balochistan government had invested for uplifting of education sector, he said, adding that the provincial government had already introduced reforms in education department.
Commending the education department's another revolutionary step towards the improvement of education; the Secretary said that it had launched a Complained Management System (CMS) to register complaints regarding education issues.
This complaint cells were established in all districts and education offices to monitor the complaints, he concluded.
