Higher Education Commission Directed To Come Up With Comprehensive Fee Support Programme

The Prime Minister's Office has directed the Higher Education Commission to submit within a period of 21 days, a comprehensive proposal, regarding ILETS/TOFEL/GRE fee support programme for the deserving candidates/aspirants

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jan, 2019 ) :The Prime Minister's Office has directed the Higher education Commission to submit within a period of 21 days, a comprehensive proposal, regarding ILETS/TOFEL/GRE fee support programme for the deserving candidates/aspirants.

On the recommendations of Prime Minister's Performance Delivery Unit (PMDU), the HEC was directed to work out a comprehensive proposal with viability, details of annual financial implications and eligibility criteria within the specific mentioned period.

The directions were issued in the light of suggestions received through Pakistan Citizen's Portal.

A letter issued by the PM Office further said the ILETS/TOFEL/GRE being pre-requisite for various scholarship programmes offered internationally, required a candidate/aspirant to pay a substantial amount for the purpose of availing the Testing Service conducted by the concerned body.

Due to financial constraints, many talented aspirants were unable to appear for the test and benefit from the available funding opportunities and attain foreign qualifications, it noted.
