Higher Education Commission Keen To Develop Int'l Academic Linkages With Friendly Countries: Dr Banuri

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) was keen to work with friendly countries and develop international academic linkages for promotion of higher education and collaboration.
This was stated by Chairman, HEC Dr Tariq Banuri in a meeting with two-member delegation from the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Nigeria here on Wednesday, a press release said.
The delegation comprised Director Bioresources Technology Department Mr. Abayomi Oguntunde SA to Permanent Secretary Mr. Samuel Thomas both from the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Nigeria.
Dr. Banuri said HEC has set up Centres of Advanced Studies in water, energy and food security which can contribute to problem solving in Pakistan and other developing countries.
He stressed the need for identifying potential areas of collaboration between HEC and Nigerian higher education institutions. "HEC looks forward to enhancing collaboration with our brotherly nations in all areas of education and research," he stated.
He underlined that an HEC team would be sent to visit Nigeria to enhance bilateral collaboration and assess option for cooperation and mutual support with Nigerian institutions.
He said HEC encourages promotion of research collaborations with international institutions and can also extend assistance to Nigeria.
The delegation appreciated HEC for its programmes and initiatives to develop the higher education sector in Pakistan.
