KCD Holds Convocation Awarding Degrees To 154 Students, 56 Gold Medals

At academic convocation of the Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) Peshawar 154 graduating students received degrees while 56 students were awarded gold medals for securing top positions during session 2017-18 here on Friday
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2019 ) :At academic convocation of the Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) Peshawar 154 graduating students received degrees while 56 students were awarded gold medals for securing top positions during session 2017-18 here on Friday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman awarded the degrees to the graduating students in the ceremony where life time achievement award was also given to Prof Dr Qazi Javaid, Prof Dr Shamim Akhtar and Asst Prof Dr Neelofer Nausheen.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister for Health Dr Hisham Inam Ullah Khan, Vice Chancellor KMU Prof Dr Arshad Javed, Dean KCD Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool, former and present faculty of the institute along the students of KCD, says a press release.
Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD), a premier institution in the country, since its establishment in 1964 as a Department of Khyber Medical College but On 11th January 1990, the Department of Dentistry was upgraded to the status of the College by the then Chief Minister.
The institute is carrying forward the legacy of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Iqbal. It has been guiding hundreds of students on their way, shaping their future to look after the oral health problems of the community.
After the implementation of MTI Act 2015 the post of principal has been changed to Dean. MTI Act 2015 has made the institution autonomous body and the institution has done record improvement after it. Academic improvement � the KMU result of BDS students of KCD came 65% to 95% in the current year. Financial receipt increased by 200% which shows improvement in clinical performance. Students of KCD achieved distinction in various platforms/conferences throughout the country.
More than 400 patients receive daily dental treatment of various natures. There are 17 beds and 7 private rooms in the dental hospital for the facilitation of patients.
This includes highly specialized treatment modalities like Orthodontics/Facial Orthopedics, treatment for Orofacial surgery, facial injuries, oral cancer, fixed and removable prosthesis of various kinds, highly specialized regenerative procedures of Periodontal therapy/Dental Implant placements and advance dental care for child health, endodontics and restorative dentistry.
