KP declares Competency Based Training and Assessment compulsory in technical institutes

Under first ever national Technical education and vocational training (TEVT) policy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) compulsory in all technical and vocational training educational institutions.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2018 ) :Under first ever national Technical education and vocational training (TEVT) policy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) compulsory in all technical and vocational training educational institutions.

The purpose of the decision is to prepare local experts to utilize water resources of the province for installation of micro hydel power plants.

KP Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and TEVT Sector Support Programme have joined hands to achieve the goal. The program is being financially assisted by European Union (EU), Germany and Norway.

In this connection, a delegation of Peshawar based journalists visited Balakot Skill Development Centre where they were briefed by Adeel Pathan, a representative of TEVT Support Program.

The journalists were told that the center was completely destroyed in devastated earthquake of October 8, 2005 and it has been operationalized effectively after provision of all facilities.

He said that promotion of technical education would help the province to take benefit of its water resources besides creating employment opportunities for technical experts.

Adeel Pathan said that the present government is not only stressing construction of big dams to minimize energy crisis but is also concentrating generation of local experts of hydel power plants.
