KP Govt Allocates 4125 M For Higher Education, Rs 217 B For Elementary Education

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday has allocated Rs 4125 for higher education and Rs 217 billion for elementary and secondary education in budget 2018-19.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Oct, 2018 ) :The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday has allocated Rs 4125 for higher education and Rs 217 billion for elementary and secondary education in budget 2018-19.
The budgetary document reveals the government has allocated Rs 4125.000 million for 65 projects including 45 ongoing and 20 projects. The projects include new blocks and hostels and computer equipment in various colleges for imparting education in information technology and other sciences, strengthening of public libraries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, construction of building and purchase of necessary items for Directorate of Higher Education, reconstruction/special repair of Govt. Colleges in KP, provision of furniture and equipment etc at GCMS Mansehra, establishment of reforms unit, establishment of economic policy research institute at AWKUM, F/S and provision for up-gradation of UET Sub Campus Mardan to the level of University.
In elementary and secondary education sector, the government has made a budgeted investment of Rs 217b to achieve sector plan objectives. Realizing the importance of having equitable access to education, the ESED carried out detailed research on the barriers to accessing education for marginalized segments of society.
Based on this research, the ESED has allocated PKR 300 Million for FY 2017-18 to carry out initiatives to increase the enrollment of children with disabilities, children from religious minorities and children from economically disadvantaged households.
An amount of Rs 9027 million for 70 projects has been allocated out of which 62 are ongoing with allocation of Rs 8766.997 Million and 08 are new with allocation of Rs 260.003 million.
The major projects include; improving quality of learning through provision of sustainable renewable energy solutions in primary schools in Southern Districts of KP (UNOPS Assisted cost $ 8.568 Million), development of play area in Primary Schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, provision of stipend to Secondary Schools' Girls Students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Phase-XIV) (SBSE), IT Labs Programme in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (MOFCOM Assistance), Digital Content Development Project in DCTE in PITE and establishment of 200 Primary/Secondary Schools in Private rented building executed through ESEF.
