The 24thConvocation of Military College of Signals (MCS), a constituent college of National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), was held at the college to award degrees to UG, MS & PhD students graduated in 2016 & 2017

Rawalpindi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2018 ) The 24thConvocation of Military College of Signals (MCS), a constituent college of National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), was held at the college to award degrees to UG, MS & PhD students graduated in 2016 & 2017.Lt Gen Hidayat-ur-Rehman, HI (M), Inspector General Training & Evaluation (IG T&E)graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address, the chief guestcongratulated the graduates and their parent faculty. Heaccentedthe urgent need to produce trained scientists and technologists. He also emphasised that theeris a need to transform our tertiary educational institutions into centres of excellence, with high standards of teaching and a culture of sustained learning.

Addressing the audience, Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, HI (M), (Retd), Rector NUST,said that it was a very special day for the graduating students as they were stepping into their professional life. He appreciated that MCS, as a pioneer institution of NUST, is producing graduates who are culturally enlightened, technologically knowledgeable, academically competent, research oriented and productive citizens ready to lead & serve the humanity.

Commandant MCS, Brig Musharaf Khan, in his welcome address, highlighted the academic and research achievements of the College over the last 6 decades. Phd degrees were conferred on 9 students and MS degrees were conferred on 290 students in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Information Security. President’s Gold Medals were awarded to Danish Ilyas, Maj Ubaid Ur Rehman Khan, IrumAbdurRehman, Umar Ghafoor, KhawarMehmood, Maj Muhammad SharjeelZareen and Wajiha Habib. Undergraduate degrees were conferred on 395 students in Electrical (Telecom) and Software Engineering. President’s Gold Medals were awarded to SundasNayab Khalil, Aqsa Hasan Siddiqui, Capt Jamal Ahmed and CaptWajahat Sultan. Chief of Army Staff’s Gold Medals were received by CaptAftab Hussain, Capt Muhammad Qasim, Capt Jamal Ahmed and CaptWajahat Sultan. Rector’s Gold Medals were awarded to HameerAbbasi, Aqsa Hasan Siddiqi, Capt Syed Irfan Tasneem and Hasan Iqbal. Chancellor’s Silver Medals were awarded to Aabgeenay Khan, WardahSarmad, Capt Syed Irfan Tasneem and Usama Zafar for their outstanding performances in their respective degree projects.
