PMDC Resolves The Long Awaited Registration Issue Of Khyber Medical Universit-Institute Of Dental Sciences Kohat

Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) Islamabad has issued a long awaited notification regarding registration of Khyber Medical University(KMU)-Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), Kohat.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2018 ) :Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) Islamabad has issued a long awaited notification regarding registration of Khyber Medical University(KMU)-Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), Kohat.

It was a matter of concern that kids graduates had not been registered with the PMDC yet and those doctors who spent four years in education and one year in house job were yet to be registered with the PMDC.

The notification issued last day by Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, Islamabad stated that "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 18 of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council Ordinance, 1962(XXXII of 1962), the Federal Government, on the recommendations of the PMDC is pleased to grant recognition to KMU- Institute of Dental Sciences, Kohat to impart training for BDS degree awarded by the KMU for 50 students".

It is worth mentioning that with issuance of the registration notification by the Federal Ministry, the long awaited issue of registration of hundreds of present and graduated students of KIDS has been resolved, which will not only pave way to enable KIDS for imparting quality dental education but will also ensure diagnostic and dental health delivery services at their door step to the inhabitants of all eleven southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being a sole dental college of that backward region.

It is also pertinent to share that KIDS was the only dental institutions in the southern districts of KP and it was surprising that this dental institution of KMU was not registered with the council for the last four years and the fate of all the present and previously graduated students was at risk due to non registration.

These students were not only deprived from house job stipend but they were also not eligible for getting admission in FCPS training to enhance their academic qualification and to seek job at public and private sectors or to start their own practice as dentists.

Keeping in view the above challenging situation the present Vice Chancellor KMU Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid came forward and take up the matter with the PMDC and he addressed all the pending issues and queries raised by PMDC by insuring placement of all the required instruments and infrastructure including installment of 75 dental chairs along with appointment of the relevant faculty and support staff on war footing basis.

The students and their parents lauded with zeal and joy issuance of the registration notification and hoped that the KMU VC will leave no stone unturned to solve all the pending issues of not only KIDS but that of all constituent institutions on priority basis.

Meanwhile the VC KMU thanked the Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination and PM&DC especially the president of PMDC Justice � Mian Shakirullah Jan administration for their valuable support and patronage and he also congratulated all the students, their parents and faculty for being getting registration with PMDC.

Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid said that registration of KIDS will not only provide opportunities of academic excellence but it will help in establishing state of the art diagnostic and dental health care services to theailing population being the lone dental institution of the southern districts of the province.
