Shafqat Mehmood directs to appoint Vice Chancellors of NSU, NCC

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to appoint Vice Chancellors of National Skill University (NSU) and National Curriculum Council (NCC).

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Oct, 2018 ) :Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to appoint Vice Chancellors of National Skill University (NSU) and National Curriculum Council (NCC).

The Federal Minister was briefed during his visit to NSU and NCC about the respective institutes. He was informed by the authorities about the Act being approved to make the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) as NSU. The minister during his visit, instructed the authorities concerned to make the institutions of NSU and NCC active with the appointment of their heads.

According to details, the NCC was constituted under the consensus decision of Inter Provincial Education Ministers' Conference (IPEMC), as a national forum for coordination between the federal government and federating units for curriculum review and development initiatives.

The NCC consists of three members from each province and area representing their respective education departments, curriculum bureaus and textbook boards.

However, under the umbrella of the National Skills University, skills development centres in Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Gwadar, Multan, Peshawar, Kohat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad and other developing industrial zones were to be set up.

The NSU was set up keeping in view the job market in Pakistan as it repeatedly faces shortage of skilled human resource at various levels for which a number of attempts have been made by the government and various organizations to bridge the gap. However, it remains a fact that availability of properly trained skilled workers in most of the development sectors is a major challenge.
