Women University Swabi highlights "role of Chemistry in daily life"

Women University, Swabi Tuesday organized a poster competition to highlight the role of Chemistry in daily life where participants emphasized on promotion of science and technology for sustainable development.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Oct, 2018 ) :Women University, Swabi Tuesday organized a poster competition to highlight the role of Chemistry in daily life where participants emphasized on promotion of science and technology for sustainable development.

The faculty and graduate students displayed the results of their research projects on the theme. 50 posters were presented, which were judged by a panel of jurors consisting of Sir John Stranger Holman, President, Royal Society of Chemistry, Prof. Tom Simpson, University of Bristol and Prof. Mike Moss, University of Oxford.A large number of students, teachers and guests visited the posters and had a discussion with the Researchers.

The Judges appreciated the research outcomes while evaluating the posters and selected the top three posters.

On this occasion the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khanzadi Fatima Khattak said that science and technology are the key drivers for sustainable development of the country.

She said that it is the scared duty of the Universities to create spirit of competition in students and to promote sciences, innovation and technologies.

She further added that the basic job of the University is to create new knowledge besides transferring the existing knowledge. The Women University, Swabi recognizes the importance of research and competition in furthering its mission which is to promote excellence and innovations in higher education especially in chemical sciences.

She said that the University will take all possible steps to facilitate its students and to give them opportunities to get exposure to top scientists and researchers in the field. She thanked the judges for evaluatingthe posters and appreciated the Department of Chemistry for arranging a such a successfulevent.
