4-day National Anti-polio Campaign Begins In Five AJK Districts

The 4-day national anti-polio campaign began in 5 districts of Azad Jammu Kashmir on Monday, during which more than 4.20 lakh children under 5 years of age will be administered the anti-polio vaccine, official sources said
MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jan, 2019 ) : Jan 21 (APP):The 4-day national anti-polio campaign began in 5 districts of Azad Jammu Kashmir on Monday, during which more than 4.20 lakh children under 5 years of age will be administered the anti-polio vaccine, official sources said.
These districts including Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimbher in Mirpur division, Muzaffarabad and Jhelum valley districts of Muzaffarabad division.
The campaign was dropped in rest of five of the AJK districts including Rawalakot, Sudhanoti, Haveili and Bagh of Poonch division due to ongoing torrential rains and heavy snowfall in the top mountainous region, official sources told APP here on Monday.
The AJK Health Services department's teams would visit house to house in all five above districts to administer polio drops to the toddlers up to 5 years during the drive.
A total of 1225 mobile teams with 236 fixed centers and 91 transit points have been established in all five above districts to administer the anti-polio vaccine to the children of the determined age from 8.
00 in the morning to 4.00 pm without any pause, the sources said.
The campaign will continue till January 24 without any break.
In the State's capital district , 1,24,249 children up to five year age will be administered anti-Polio vaccines and Vitamin -drops and for this purpose 359 mobile teams have been constituted and 58 fixed and 19 transit points have been set up by Polio Eradication Committee.
The State Health Department sources asserted that there had been no any case of polio disease to any child was detected in AJK during last 19 years.
The State government has taken requisite measures to administer anti-polio drops to ensure the State an absolutely polio-free region.
