Ethiopia registered 1,489 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the national tally to 336,762 as of Wednesday evening, said the country's health ministry
ADDIS ABABA, Sept. 23 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) :Ethiopia registered 1,489 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the national tally to 336,762 as of Wednesday evening, said the country's health ministry.
Meanwhile, 47 new COVID-19 related deaths and 1,179 more recoveries were reported, bringing the national totals to 5,254 and 304,768, respectively.
Ethiopia, Africa's second-most populous nation, has so far reported the highest COVID-19 caseload in the East Africa region.
According to the ministry, Ethiopia currently has 26,738 active cases, of whom 789 are under severe health conditions.
Ethiopia is among the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 in Africa, following South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia.
