Govt committed to provide health facilities to people, Punjab Assembly told

Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir told the Punjab Assembly on Monday that work on Rs 19 billion, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute project was underway with apace, and kidney and liver patients would get free treatment.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2018 ) :Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir told the Punjab Assembly on Monday that work on Rs 19 billion, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute project was underway with apace, and kidney and liver patients would get free treatment.

Answering queries by lawmakers during Question-Hour, he said, on the directions of chief minister Punjab free diagnosis, treatment and provision of medicines for hepatitis patients had been ensured.

He said, the government had already taken historic initiatives like mobile health units, revamping district and tehsil headquarters hospitals, training and capacity building of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff and their availability in the hospitals.

He said, Rs 260 billion were being spent for providing modern health facilities.

He said six hepatitis clinics had been set up in the province while remaining hepatitis clinics would be established in time.

Parliamentary Secretary for Higher education Mehwish Sultana also gave answers to members about her department. Earlier, the 25th sitting of the 34th session of the current assembly was started an hour behind its schedule with Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal in the chair.

The House deferred two call attention notices on the request of the treasury. The House couldn't hold pre-budget discussion due to lack of quorum. An independent lawmaker Ahsan Riaz Fatyana pointed the quorum that led to the suspension of the proceedings for five minutes. The Chair adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, March 14 at 10 pm.
