Karachi Metropolitan Corporation gave an excellent gift to citizens of Karachi on the World Kidney Day by inaugurating the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases which is the second big public sector kidney hospital
KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 14th March, 2019) Karachi Metropolitan Corporation gave an excellent gift to citizens of Karachi on the World Kidney Day by inaugurating the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases which is the second big public sector kidney hospital.Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Thursday formally inaugurated the institute along with the Metropolitan Commissioner Dr.
Syed Saif-ur-Rehman. He also met with the patients in different wards of KIKD.Senior director medical and health services Dr. Beerbal Genani, Principal of KIHD Prof. Doctor Mehmood Haider, Incharge KIKD Dr Khurram Daniyal and others were also present on this occasion.The Kidney center was established in 2012 however it could not be made operational till 2017 when Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar took special interest in it and the first dialysis was done on 4th November 2017 and medicines provided to patients.Before this dialysis facility was available in only one shift with 15 dialysis machines however after it got the status of institute of kidney diseases ten more machines added to make it 25 for kidney patients.
The dialysis now can be done in three shifts and daily 75 patients would get this facility free of cost. Next more 25 more dialysis machines will be provided to KIKD and daily 200 patients would get this facility in four shifts.
Besides this emergency x-ray and ultrasound facility will also be made available to patients.Mayor Karachi said most of the people's problems would be solved if problems in education, health and security sector are solved by the government.He also requested the prime minster Imran Khan to solve these three issues which would bring the corruption level down also.He said this is a big achievement as the 14 hospital under KMC being inaugurated.
We instead of just making statements giving gift of kidney hospital to citizens of Karachi.Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman said that in developed countries they give priority developing parks, playgrounds and provision of healthy environment instead of focusing on hospitals they give importance to people's health.He said we need to focus on the public health sector otherwise more such hospitals would not enough to cater to our needs.Dr.
Khurram Daniyal said that kin private hospitals it takes Rs70 thousand to Rs90 thousand monthly to get the dialysis facility for patient which is hard to pay for middle and lower middle class but we are providing all these facilities free of cost. NNI
