Mongolia Sees 3,361 New COVID-19 Cases, 13 More Deaths

Mongolia reported 3,361 more COVID-19 cases and 13 new deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 283,956 and the death toll to 1,159, the health ministry said Thursday

ULAN BATOR, Sept. 23 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) :Mongolia reported 3,361 more COVID-19 cases and 13 new deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 283,956 and the death toll to 1,159, the health ministry said Thursday.

The latest confirmed cases were local infections, and 1,540 of them were detected in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator, which has been the hardest hit by COVID-19, the ministry said.

In addition, 88,549 COVID-19 patients are being treated in the country, and more than 66,300 of them are receiving home-based care due to a shortage of hospital beds.

Mongolian health authorities have urged the public to avoid mass gatherings and not to invite guests to their homes, as the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus is spreading rapidly across the country.

A total of 65.3 percent of the country's population of around 3.4 million have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
