Pakistan Chest Society's 13th Biennial Int'l Conference Starts

A three-day 13th Pakistan Chest Society's (PCS) Biennial International Conference started here on Thursday to highlight the research work of medical practitioners and share experiences of respiratory professionals.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Mar, 2018 ) :A three-day 13th Pakistan Chest Society's (PCS) Biennial International Conference started here on Thursday to highlight the research work of medical practitioners and share experiences of respiratory professionals.
This three days conference will be preceded with workshops on various topics to enhance the skills of budding pulmonologists and post graduate trainees. The conference will include interactive sessions, panel discussion with experts, live workshops, experienced sharing lectures and discussions, addressing current scenarios and clinical glitches, by national and international expert panels and professionals.
Addressing the inaugural session, President Pakistan Medical and Detail Council (PMDC) Justice (R) Mian Shakirullah Jan said that the council has been given a mission to establish uniform minimum standard of basic and higher qualifications in medicine and dentistry throughout Pakistan.
He said that the council was working for improving the standard of existing medical and dental colleges in the country besides continuous and vigilant monitoring of standard of the institutions.
He said that the effective regulation of medical education is being done by the PMDC while the council was also working on promotion of academic activities and guidance to institutions to improve quality of medical education in the country.
President Pakistan Chest Society Prof Arshad Javed said that the society celebrates various days like world TB day, No Tobacco Day, World Asthma Day, world environment day besides holding various seminars and briefings time to time.
He said that various experts from Pakistan Chest Society are disseminating knowledge on various aspects of chest diseases in media from time to time and public awareness meeting are held in different schools and institutions.
He expressed the hope that the society will continue its efforts in improving lungs health in Pakistan, fight against tobacco, eliminate tuberculosis, educate health care professionals and public for healthy breathing, and further propagate research in the field of chest medicine.
He said that this meeting will be a chance to interact with specialists from Pakistan and also with the international faculty and will serve as learning hub for all. General Secretary Pakistan Chest Society Dr Saadia Ashraf said that this even will serve as a platform to highlight doctors' personal work, researches and experiences and provide a chance to meet colleagues from all over the country.
The inaugural session of the conference was attended by respiratory professionals with outstanding scientific and educational programme designed to address the needs of researchers, clinicians, general practitioner and allied health professionals. The organizers have planned special sessions for post and under graduate medical students.
