HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2018 ) :Physician and Senior Medical Officer at LUMHS, Jamshoro, Anis Sakrani terming human negligence as a cause of a number of diseases said that human polluted environment and smoke and noise pollution causes different diseases including asthma, lung cancer and depression.

Talking to APP here Monday, Dr. Anis Sakrani highlighted the noise, air and waste material pollution, smoke of cigarette pollution and different other types of the pollution, being experienced by the people.The increasing air pollution and dust put the number of allergic asthmatic patients high in urban populace of Hyderabad and there is the need of formation of effective strategy for controlling air pollution, he added.

Dr. Anis Sakrani said the cigarette smoke, animal dander, mold spores, house dust, feather pillows, some foods, or any other sensitive substance, infections, emotional stress, fatigue, endocrine and climate changes are also the main sources of erupting the disease among the people, he said.

He informed that after passing through the mouth and throat, air moves through the larynx, commonly known as the voice box and then through the trachea or windpipe. He said that common causes of asthma attacks are extremely small and lightweight particles transported through the air and inhaled into the lungs and when they enter the airways, these particles, known as environmental triggers, causes an inflammatory response in the airway walls, resulting in an asthma attack, added.

Dr. Anis Sakrani said that pollution of different kinds also causing health problem including skin and eye infections. The dust in the air at dump sites can cause breathing problems in children and adults, he said and added that flies breed on uncovered piles of rotting garbage spreading the diseases of different kinds including diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid, hepatitis and cholera.

Mosquitoes transmit many types of diseases like malaria and yellow fever, while dogs, cats and rats also involves in spreading of diseases of plague and flea born fever Intestinal and parasitic and skin diseases, Dr.

Anis said. He also expressed grave concerns over the increase pollution of different kinds in Pakistan and emphasized the need of implementing the relevant laws in letter and spirit in order to make healthy environment in the country.

Dr. Anis informed that the preparation of building materials, smoked and unfit vehicles, industrial effluents and smokes, improper sewage disposal and uprooting of forestry areas are the main cases of creation pollutions of different kinds and if no attention was paid in this direction, the people can suffer different kinds of diseases.

He emphasized the need of launching of a massive mass awareness campaign to inform the causes that made their surroundings polluted. Proper disposal of waste with control of sanitary landfill sites as well as treatment and recycling plants can help the people to live in polluted free atmosphere, he added.

He suggested that residential areas should be kept at a distance from the commercial and industrial areas while efforts should be made to ensure the traffic noise from heavy vehicles away from hospitals, schools and offices.

Dr. Anis Sakrani said that the air pollution create problem when waste is burnt heavy metals like lead, toxic gases and smoke spreads over residential areas. The wind also carries waste, dust and gases caused by decomposition and said and added that putrefaction of waste in sunlight during daytime results in bad smells and reduced visibility, added.
