Punjab Healthcare Commission imposes Rs0.5 mln fine on hospital

The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has imposed Rs0.5 million fine on a private hospital for swapping medical reports, leading to wrong management of a patient.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Nov, 2018 ) :The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has imposed Rs0.5 million fine on a private hospital for swapping medical reports, leading to wrong management of a patient.

According to details, a complainant Mumtaz Ali, suffering from a liver ailment, had submitted an application with the PHC asserting that he had got his CT Scan and X-ray reports from the Shifa International Hospital Faisalabad.

On the basis of the results of the reports, his doctor started his treatment and advised liver transplant. "However, when more tests were carried out, results of the hospital appeared to be dubious, and of another patient," he alleged.

The investigation and experts opinion of the PHC had found Mumtaz's allegations to be true.

Therefore, the commission imposed a fine of Rs0.5m on the Hospital for failing to formulate standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handing over test reports to the patients.
