Rs60m grant for 5 mother, child hospitals approved

Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday approved an initial grant of Rs60 million for establishment of five mother and child hospitals in different districts of Punjab.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Dec, 2018 ) :Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday approved an initial grant of Rs60 million for establishment of five mother and child hospitals in different districts of Punjab.

She was chairing a meeting, also attended by Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Special Secretary Muhammad Khan Ranjha.

The minister said that more grant of Rs175 million would also be released during this fiscal year. The meeting also decided that a nursing college would be established in every mother and child hospital and the minister directed for preparation of PC-1 of the project as early as possible. A grant of Rs1000 million was being approved for revamping of all DHQ and 11 THQ hospitals and further grant of Rs6,000 million would also be released during the current fiscal year, she announced.

She also said that under the Chief Minister's stunting reduction programme, Rs 525 million had been approved and further grant of Rs 12,22 million would be released soon.

During the meeting supplementary grant for many other projects was also sanctioned.

Dr Yasmin Rashid said that Health Department developed 14 Diagnostic mobile Units to be attached with backward areas, asserting that Diagnostic Mobile Units were fully equipped with all diagnostic equipment and allied facilities. The Punjab Government was committed to provide basic health facilities at gross root level, she pledged.

Health Minister also chaired another meeting and said that emergencies of all secondary hospitals should be up to the mark and there must be an administrative officer at emergency department during the night hours, besides implementing the staff attendance mechanism in letter and spirit. Heaters must be made available in emergencies and wards during the cold weather, she added.
