ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2018 ) :Women of all ages, after a basic health checkup, are usually found deficient of Vitamin D and calcium , which may lead to higher chances of fracture at later stages .
According to researchers , a large number of women were found having Osteopenia - lower bone density than normal because of deficiency of vitamin D and calcium. In a survey on different age of people when they went through the test, women and girls were found having severe deficiencies of calcium and vitamin D that led to Osteopenia, said Nutritionist Dr Waseem Malik.
He added Osteopenia is less severe than osteoporosis but women with osteopenia may have the same risk for a broken bone as women with osteopenia depending on poor health.
He said that the state of health, especially women' health is poor as over 75 percent people are suffering for being underweight or obese while very few are physically fit and healthy," .
Getting enough calcium and vitamin D is essential to building strong, dense bones, he added. He said nutritionists should advised patients about regular assessment and guidance on healthy eating habits, diet plan and recommend what changes they needed to make to their lifestyles.
