Walk Held To Give Awareness About HIV-AIDS

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2019 ) :District Health Authority Bahawalpur in collaboration with Bahawal Victoria Hospital organized a walk to raise awareness about HIV-AIDS here Thursday.
The walk was led by Medical Superintendent Bahawal Victoria Hospital Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman and Chief Executive Officer District Health Authority Bahawalpur Dr. Farhat Abbas.
The walk was attended by District Coordinator Preventive Dr. Zakir Ali, District Health Officer Preventive Dr. Faisal Waheed and doctors and staff of District Health Authority Bahawalpur and Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent Bahawal Victoria Hospital Dr.
Aziz-ur-Rehman said that HIV-AIDS carries from one person to another through the blood. He said that disposable syringes must be used every time and new blades must be used while getting shaved at a barber's shop. He also said that blood donors must have blood screening done to ensure that their blood is free from the HIV-AIDS virus. Chief Executive Officer District Health Authority Bahawalpur Dr. Farhat Abbas said that according to the statistics of the department, there are eight patients of HIV-AIDS in the district. He said that it's a fatal and incurable disease and prevention is the only way to avoid the disease.
