WHO To Help Develop Human Resources For Health In Punjab

World Health Organisation (WHO) would provide technical support to the Punjab Health Department for development of human resources for health (HRH).
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Oct, 2018 ) :World Health Organisation (WHO) would provide technical support to the Punjab Health Department for development of human resources for health (HRH).
This was discussed in a meeting of WHO delegation with Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid, here Saturday.
An expert of international repute Dr Mario Roberto Dal Paz would be assigned the task to establish HRH Observatory for Punjab. He would also help in finalising the HRH profiling 2018 besides giving recommendations for provincial HRH strategic framework.
Dr Jamshaid Ahmed, head of office, was leading the delegation while Dr Mario Roberto Dal Paz and Dr Shabnam Sarfraz, CEO Punjab Public Health Agency, were also present.
Dr Yasmin Rashid said that achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) was a key priority, identified by the new government in Punjab.
She thanked Dr Mario for his technical support to the PPHA team towards finalisation of the health workforce strategy documents for Punjab. She said that the Punjab government was focusing on engaging with the general physicians and improving preventive and Primary healthcare for achieving UHC.
Maternal and neonatal child health, family planning and nutrition would be amongst the top priority agenda, she reiterated the government's commitment towards addressing health workforce deficits in the province.
The minister acknowledged Dr Mario and WHO for their technical assistance towards a scientific review of the drafts for the finalisation.
