Young Doctors' Strike Ends After Successful Negotiations With Govt

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Law and Anti-Corruption, Barrister Murtaza Wahab Wednesday said that protesting young doctors have announced to end their strike following successful negotiations
Talking to media, flanked by Young Doctors Association representatives Dr. Peer Manzoor and Dr. Ahmed Sultan at Sindh Assembly, he said that Sindh Health Department have agreed to genuine and bona fide demands of protesting Young Doctors and OPDs of all hospital would be opened this evening, adding that Sindh doctors would be given same allowances as in Punjab.
He said that Sindh government has established state-of-the-art health institutions in the province like NICVD and Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences that were providing world class health services to the poor people of the province as well the country.
To a question, Murtaza Wahab said that health professionals come under essential services and they have discussed with doctors' representatives to devise a mechanism so as to avoid strikes in the future. He said that doctors have agreed to voluntarily serve fourteen hours instead of twelve, which is commendable gesture.
