In a tweet on Tuesday Dawkins termed Allah-o-Akbar as ‘aggressive-sounding’.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th July, 2018) Richard Dawkin, one of the best science authors in the world, drew condemnation as he compared Winchester Church bells to ‘Allah-u-Akbar’.
Although his works include scientific masterpieces like The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker and The God Delusion, Dawkins is one of the most vocal atheists and has often targeted religions, specially Islam.
In a tweet on Tuesday Dawkins, a vocal critic of religion, termed Allah-o-Akbar as ‘aggressive-sounding’.
He said that the lovely bells of Winchester sound so nicer than the aggressive-sounding Allah-o-Akhbar.
“Listening to the lovely bells of Winchester, one of our great mediaeval cathedrals.
So much nicer than the aggressive-sounding “Allahu Akhbar.” Or is that just my cultural upbringing?” he wrote in his tweet.
A lot of Twitters users, including Fatima Bhutto, pointed out that his tweet was just bigotry.
“No, it’s your bigotry,” Fatima said.
Dawkins has made such remarks in the past as well. Earlier, he has gone on record to state that islam was the ‘most evil religion in the world’, for which an event was cancelled in California.
Not only that, he also compared a Muslim boy, whose clock was confused for a bomb, to an ISIS child soldier.
