ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2018 ) :The special court of India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Indian occupied Kashmir has granted seven-day remand of five men arrested in connection with the escape of a prisoner, Naveed Jatt.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Naveed Jatt, who was arrested in 2014 from Kulgam district, had escaped from the police custody on February 6 after an attack on a police team accompanying him at the SMHS hospital, where he was brought for medical check-up from Srinagar Central Jail.
Inspector General of Police, Alok Mittal, said that the court granted seven days remand for Shakeel Ahmed Butt, Tika Khan, Syed Tajamul islam, Muhammad Shafi Wani and Jan Muhammad Ganai, all residents of Pulwama.
The NIA has registered a case for investigating the prisoner's escape during the attack in which two policemen were killed. Meanwhile, in a bizarre development, the NIA has cited one of the reasons in its chargesheet against a photo-journalist, Kamran Yousuf, arrested by it in a case was for not covering developmental activities of the government and statements of pro-India political parties.
The fact of the matter is that the journalists cover the events of the beats they are assigned by their organizations. As per media reports the documents were reproduced before additional sessions judge Tarun Sherawat of a Delhi court during the hearing of Kamran Yousuf's bail petition.
