MUZAFFARABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2019 ) :Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) legislative Assembly Friday adopted an ordinance first of its type to promote tourism through public private partnership in the state.

The AJK tourism promotion ordinance 2019 was unanimously adopted by the House that would enable the tourism department to lease out land or buildings to private investors in the territory to establish lodging facilities for tourists in different areas.

Minister for Tourism and Information Raja Mushtaq Mehnas said the passage of the law would open new avenues for huge investment by the private sector in tourism sector thus giving a boost to the economy.

He said under the ordinance an executive tourism committee under his chairmanship would be constituted to implement the tourism policy of his government besides approving the lease agreements with private investors.

Mehnas said that law provides attractive opportunities to investor for productive investment in this sector under which high standard transportation and lodging facilities would be provided to visitors besides developing tourist hurts in different areas.
