AJK Court Rejects Bail Before Arrest Plea Of Land Grabbing Scam Accused

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Bureau Court Mirpur Thursday dismissed the bail-before-arrest plea of accused Muhammad Afzal Qureshi invloved in mega state-owned land grabbing scam
According to a press release issued by the AJK Accountability Bureau, the accused, who is owner of Qureshi Ghee Mills, Mangla Mirpur, had submitted a petition seeking bail before arrest for several months but did not appear before the court.
In view of solid proofs against the accused and his continuous absence to appear before the court, the court dismissed his bail application.
It may be recalled that the AJK Supreme Court had ordered the AJK Accountability Bureau court for investigation into grabbing illegally the public land by the accused.
It was found during the investigations that accused Afzal Qureshi, in connivance with the state revenue department officials and through fake documents, had allegedly tried to grab public lands worth crores of rupees, the press release said.
One of the accused was arrested by the AJK AB while the other who was on provisional bail had passed away. Afzal Qureshi went into hide but got provisional bail. He did not appear before the court as a result the court dismissed his bail before arrest plea.
The prosecution and investigation sections of AJK AB presented solid proofs against the accused. The AJK Accountability Bureau is after the accused to arrest since the bail-before-arrest please was rejected by the accountability court.
