MIRPUR-AJK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Aug, 2024) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has reiterated his government's commitment to public service, stating that the welfare of the people is the sole mission of his administration.

Addressing the 27th Cabinet meeting held in the state capital on Friday, the Prime Minister said that impartial accountability is a key component of effective governance and the merit system has been restored with a focus on ensuring its effective implementation.

The PM emphasized that the provision of basic amenities of life including education and health are among the top priorities of the coalition government.

He assured that the government will utilize all available resources for the development and prosperity of the state.

The prime minister directed the Cabinet ministers to adopt a self-monitoring mechanism to ensure that development works in their respective Constituencies are carried out properly and government funds are utilized effectively.

The Cabinet meeting took several decisions, including the ratification of previous decisions, waiving of divorce registration fees, and exempting electricity bills up to 200 units for mosques.

The Cabinet also approved the right-sizing of the Awqaf Department and the formation of a committee to submit a report within 7 days.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Criminal Law and the right-sizing of the Azad Kashmir Department of Electricity.

The Cabinet also decided to present the Azad Kashmir Building Control Act 2024 in the Assembly for final approval.

Furthermore, the Cabinet congratulated Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on his historic success at the Paris Olympics.
