ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jan, 2019 ) :The Jamaat-e-Islami has deplored that the entire territory has been turned into a concentration camp where all the fundamental freedoms have been abrogated in Indian occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a Jamaat spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the civil population in the territory is manned by the gun-yielding forces personnel and every civilized law is being blatantly violated under the shade of some black and draconian laws in force and thus virtually abrogating all the fundamental freedoms of the Kashmiri people.
He said that India had devised a policy to harass, intimidate and subjugate the people under one pretext or the other thereby depriving them from living a dignified life according to their choice and aspirations.
He said, "Civilized legal system in vogue in other parts of the globe outside Kashmir provides a proper safeguard to the fundamental human rights which are considered to be inalienable and unassailable but the people in Kashmir have no freedom available to them." Condemning slapping of sedition charges against seven Kashmiri students and three others in New Delhi, he said, "This is tantamount to deprivation of the freedom of speech." He demanded the withdrawal of the charge-sheet filed against the Kashmiri students in a Delhi court for upholding the basic principles of democracy.
The draconian laws in force in Kashmir are framed in such a way that even the fundamental rights of the people stand suspended and seem to be subject to the conditions laid down under these inhuman, undemocratic emergency laws like Armed Special Forces Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA), he said, adding in Kashmir every activity is declared as unlawful which goes against the policies laid down by the Indian government.
He said scores of innocent youth and Hurriyat leaders including Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi and her two colleagues Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi have been shifted to the infamous Delhi's Tihar jail.
Expressing concern over the suppressive policies against the Kashmiri people, Jama'at-e-Islami demanded unconditional shifting of all Kashmiri detainees from Indian jails to the jails in occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) in its statement in Srinagar deplored the slapping of the sedition charges against nine students including seven from Kashmir.
It sad, "It is a draconian and obscurantist law which has been done away with in the civilized countries of the world but is followed religiously by the authoritarian government to ensure its supremacy."
