Kashmiri Across Europe Express Gratitude To UN HRC On Report

Kashmiri Diaspora from across Europe descended on the Office of the United Nations in Geneva to thank the UN high commissioner for its historic report that propelled Kashmir to the forefront of international agenda at Human Rights Council.

The Kashmiris also protested against the Indian occupation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir demanding right to self determination.
The protesters demanded the commission of inquiry to be established as requested by the UN high commissioner, according to a message received here on Thursday.
The Kashmir delegation members attending ongoing 38th session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva including Altaf Hussain Wani. Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Mrs. Shamim Shawl, Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan, Hassan Bana, Advocate Pervez Shah, Ahmed Quraishi, besides other Kashmir from across Europe including Mian Aslam, Mohammad Ajmal, Chaudhry Rasheed, Maqsood, and Raja Haroon also addressed the rally.
"It's a refreshing change. We used to come here to protest UN silence and Indian atrocities. Today, we come to thank the United Nations", Pervez Ashraf, a former minister of Azad Kashmir said, while addressing the protestors.
The huge demonstration was also held at the Broken Chair Square in front of the Palace of the Nations, which is the UN office in Geneva, the message said.
Meanwhile, John Howarth, Member of European Parliament, flew in from Brussels to join the Kashmiris in a mark of support for the Kashmir movement for self-determination under UN Security Council resolutions.
