PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) AJK Chapter's President Ch. Munir Hussain Advocate said India is celebrating its Republic Day on 26th January, but the Kashmiris observe it as Black Day because India, by continuing her unlawful and forcible occupation on the Kashmir, converted the Valley into an Indian garrison
Talking to APP here Saturday, the Kashmiri leader said that the Kashmiris had been struggling for their right of self-determination and Indian Republic Day had no importance in the Jammu and Kashmir territory.
Munir said that Indian troops were using brutal forces against the armless and innocent people in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK), particularly in the recent years, exercise of the violent forces against the peaceful protestors resulted in a number of casualties in the bleeding Occupied Territory. Several of the killed and injured were children and this situation sparked anger among the general public. He pointed out that a large number of youth specially, children were detained for participating in protests by the Indian authorities in IHK during the period. Presently, more than 700,000 Indian troops deployed in Kashmir make siege of the Valley which is clear violation of democratic rights of the Kahsmiri people, he said.
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observe Indian Republic Day as Black Day to remind the international community that India's continued denial of Kashmiris' right to self-determination is contrary to its claim of being a democratic republic.
On the occasion, we as Kashmiris based in Europe, express complete solidarity with our brothers and sisters in IHK, the PPP (SB) AJK leader said.
Ch, Munir Hussain Advocate urged the international community specially to use their influence to improve the situation of the human rights in Jammu and Kashmir and make useful ground for the just solution of the problem. He sought probe into large scale human rights violations during the past two decades in the suppression of peoples. If International community can hold referendum in Southern Sudan and East Timor for democratic rights of the people of the areas, why it can not arrange plebiscite under the UN supervision in Jammu and Kashmir, he questioned. There are already UN's resolutions on Kashmir issue which should be implemented without further delay, the Kashmiri leader reminded the US and EU.
Munir called for serious actions by the international community specially big powers to help in peaceful and just settlement of the Kashmir problem according to the aspirations and wishes of the people of Jammu Kashmir, dwelling either side of the line of control and rest of the world.
