ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2018 ) :The illegally detained senior APHC leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori in Indian occupied Kashmir has completed one year in jail despite court quashing his detention under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), twice.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, 71, a resident of Badambagh in Sopore town was arrested from the graveyard of the town on February 15, 2017, when he had gone there to pay tributes to freedom leader, Ghulam Muhammad Bulla, on his martyrdom anniversary.
Ghulam Muhammad Bulla was killed by Indian police after he had held a rally in Sopore against Indra-Abdullah Accord in 1975.
His death in custody is said to be the first custodial killing in occupied Kashmir.
Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, after being arrested was booked under the PSA twice first in March and then in June, last year. After being bailed in both the PSA cases, the puppet authorities registered another fake case against him in September in which he was accused of giving a provocative speech at the funeral of martyred Qayoom Najar on September 26, a date on which Khan Sopori was in detention at Sopore police station.
