Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has denounced the anti-Pakistan and anti-Kashmir frenzy being whipped up the Indian ruling party and the extremist groups in the wake of Pulwama incident
DOHA (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd February, 2019) Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has denounced the anti-Pakistan and anti-Kashmir frenzy being whipped up the Indian ruling party and the extremist groups in the wake of Pulwama incident.
In an interview with Al Jazeera Television Network, President Masood also called upon United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council to intervene and de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan.
Unresolved Kashmir conflict, the President said, is a very serious threat to international and regional peace and security and needs to be addressed urgently. He added that world must not overlook the reality that the Kashmiris have been brutalized for past 71 years, and about half a million of them have been killed since 1947 and the killings continue to this day.
“The people in Kashmir are being tortured, maimed and blinded; women are being raped by occupation forces; so this (Pulwama) incident should not be made to eclipse the bigger reality, that is the aspiration of the Kashmiri people for self-determination, liberty and freedom.”, pointed out President AJK.
“We reject the allegations levelled by the Indian government against Pakistan and also denounce the frenzy whipped by the Indian ruling party and the extremist groups. This kind of anti-Pakistan and anti-Kashmir sentiment is pushing the two countries to the brink of war.
We are against this kind of warmongering” Khan said. Responding to a question, he said that Jaish-e-Mohammad is outlawed and banned in Pakistan and it has nothing to do with Kashmir freedom movement.
The Indian accusations, he asserted are false and aimed to divert world attention from the horrendous human rights situation prevalent in Indian Occupied Kashmir. The Office of High Commissioner of Human Rights of United Nations listed all the human rights violations and crimes against humanity, which were being committed by Indian occupation forces, President Masood said.
He further said that despite reports of 2018 being the bloodiest year in the past decade; India is yet to address the real situation and is instead narrating a false story to the world. To a question over accusations of human right violations in Azad Kashmir, the President said that in Azad Kashmir there are no enforced disappearances, there are no arbitrary dentations, no incidents of torture or sexual violence; so one cannot compare the situations in two regions.
Yet to another question the President said the United Nations has an important role to play and it is their key responsibility to implement the resolutions, which were passed in the late 1940s and early 1950s by the UN Security Council and also to ensure global peace and stability.
