President of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Masood Khan Friday said that efforts would be made to expand banking operations of Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and encourage investment in existing and emerging development sectors.

MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2018 ) , April 20 (APP)::President of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Masood Khan Friday said that efforts would be made to expand banking operations of Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and encourage investment in existing and emerging development sectors.

The President made these remarks during the inauguration of the upgraded branch of the Bank of AJK at Bagh. He on the occasion congratulated the Bank of AJK team on the successful establishment of the upgraded Bagh branch.

He said the branch would facilitate the locals by providing modern banking facilities and financial products. Expressing his satisfaction on the performance of the bank, President Masood Khan said that Bank of AJK was a state asset and it was our responsibility to further strengthen this institution.

He said steps would be taken to open further branches and make it a scheduled bank under the State Bank of Pakistan.

The President said that with growing economic activity in AJK, especially after the inclusion of this region in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor would boost the banking and financing sector and Bank of AJK would positively contribute to the booming economic landscape.

Speaking about the development projects, the President said that in the years to come, a power project would be established in Mahl which would not only provide jobs to the locals but also generate economic activity in the area.

The President said that national and foreign investors would be exploring investment opportunities in Azad Kashmir and Bank of AJK would play a pivotal role to facilitate them in their banking needs. The inauguration was attended by Imran Samad, Managing Director Bank of AJK, senior bank officials, district administration and notables of the city.
