Safety Measures For Tourists In AJK, Special Tourism Police Force Formed

A high level meeting chaired by AJK chief secretary Mathar Niaz Rana to set up special tourism police force held on Tuesday
It was attended by Inspector General Police Salahuddin Khan, Secretary Finance Fareed Ahmed Tarar, Secretary Services Ch. Liaquat Hussain, Secretary Information, tourism and IT Midhat Shahzad and Additional Secretary Interior Masoodur Rehman.
The meeting decided to set up special police force for the security of the tourists. The police force would be selected from within the educated and civilized police officials.
The special police force squad would work under the control of DIG Shaheryar Sikandar. Their uniform would be designed differently.
The meeting further decided that in the first phase, the special police force would be posted at three entry points of AJK - Kuhala, Brarkot and Azad Pattan.
It would be provided bikes and would patrol from entry points to picnic resorts.
The police force would be trained not only to behave well with the visting tourists but also guide them to their intending destination in AJK.
The meeting further decided that CCTV cameras would be installed in all the entry points of AJK for which details of required funds would be presented by director general information technology board in the next meeting.
The expenses of special uniform and bikes would be presented by the police department.
It was decided that mobile workshops would be set up to facilitate the tourists which would provide them facilities round the clock.
It was also decided that next week another meeting would be convened to give final shape to all these matters.
