Sardar Aamir Altaf Elected As Dy Speaker AJK Assembly

Sardar Aamir Altaf of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) was elected as deputy speaker of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) legislative Assembly by securing 34 votes against Pakistan Peoples' Party candidate Shazia Akbar who could secure only 8 votes
The office of deputy speaker was fallen vacant from last two months after Sardar Farooq Tahir resigned as deputy speaker and took charge Minister Law.
The newly elected deputy speaker Sardar Aamir Altaf was elected as member Assembly in bye-elections from LA 18 Poonch 11, the seat fell vacant due to death of his grandfather Sardar Khan Bhadar Khan.
After the election, speaker legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir administered the oath of office to newly elected Deputy Speaker Sardar Aamir Altaf in the House and prorogued the session.
