ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd March, 2019) Sardar Masood Khan, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), said India has already slapped a gag order in Occupied Kashmir and tried to slap a similar gag order on European and British Parliaments to prevent them from raising their voice for the oppressed people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir; but Members of European Parliament like Wajid Khan and Pier Antonio Panzeri have not succumbed to Indian pressure and have bravely raised their voice for the people of Kashmir.
He expressed these views while speaking at a seminar on Kashmir organized by Jammu and Kashmir Right to Self Determination Movement International here in Islamabad on Friday. The seminar was also addressed by Member of European Parliament (MEP) Wajid Khan, Senator Sehar Kamran, Member National Assembly, Noreen Farooq Khan, Spokesperson of Foreign Office, Dr Faisal, Convenor All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Director General Kashmir Liberation Cell, Fida Hussain Kiani, Sheikh Tajamlul Islam, Altaf Hussain Wani, and others. The President highly appreciated the efforts of the Member of European Parliament (MEP) Wajid Khan for his untiring efforts for the Kashmir cause and effectively raising the Kashmir issue in the European Parliament and braving Indian opposition. Describing successes at United Nations, Westminster and Brussels as momentous and interlinked, the President said that it is heartening that the conscience of the international community is finally waking up. He said governments in Washington, London, Brussels and other important world capitals are still silent over what is happening in Kashmir because of their strategic and economic interests with Indi; but the civil society, media and conscientious people of the wider global community have started advocating the plight of the victims of Kashmir.
He called for the implementation of the recommendations put forth in the report of the United Nations’ Office of High Commissioner on Human Rights, Members of the British and the European Parliament to conduct comprehensive and independent international investigation of human rights abuses in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). “The OHCHR report coupled with the recommendations of All Parties Parliamentary of Kashmir Group in British Parliament and historic hearing on the Kashmir issue conducted by the European Parliament was no less than a significant achievement and need to be followed up. The world community especially the United Nation and EU should come forward and take steps towards the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, he added. Describing Srinagar as the nucleus of Kashmiri leadership, President Masood Khan said Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) in Occupied Kashmir is united and the leadership on this side of the Line of Control (LoC) should follow suit to take the liberation struggle forward with unity and unison. “Those who facilitated India in Kashmir to perpetuate its illegal occupation for the last 71 years cannot be equated with those who offered matchless sacrifices to end the occupation”, he added.
