Thousands join funerals in Langate, Sopore

Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of Furqan and Liaqat, who were martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation at Guloora in Handwara area of Kupwara district, yesterday in Indian occupied Kashmir.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Sep, 2018 ) :Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of Furqan and Liaqat, who were martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation at Guloora in Handwara area of Kupwara district, yesterday in Indian occupied Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, funerals of the two martyrs were offered in their native areas in Langate and Sopore. A large number of people from Langate, Sopore and adjoining areas assembled in the respective places to pay tributes to the martyrs. Furqan was a class 12 student from Langate while Liaqat, a father of three children, was from Sopore The bodies of the two youth were carried in processions to the martyrs' graveyards where they were laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans.

Liaqat was killed on the day of his sister's wedding.

Meanwhile, a sea of people turned up for the funeral prayers of a PhD scholar, who was shot dead by Indian troops in disguise in Srinagar, at his native village in Lalpora Lolab area of Kupwara district late last night. Abdul Ahad Ganai was putting up in Srinagar's Batpora area and was fired upon while driving his car in Khanyar area. He died on the spot and his body was later taken to police control room Srinagar for medico-legal formalities and then handed over to the family for last rites.

Abdul Ahad Ganai had pursued his doctorate from the Aligarh Muslim University in 2015 and was working as a teacher in a private institution in Srinagar.
