Young Fashion Designer In India Commits Suicide Over ‘body Shaming’

Indian media reported that Priyanka was academically bright but could not land herself a full-time job

Delhi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th August, 2018) A 22-year-old aspiring fashion designer committed suicide in Delhi by hanging herself in her house late Thursday night.

A suicide note she left behind hints that she took this extreme step because of body shaming. Her one-page suicide note mentioned that she was caged in a body that insulted her at juncture of life. She concluded her note with ‘Love you Mom’ and a smiley.

Indian media reported that Priyanka was academically bright but could not land herself a full-time job as a fashion designer despite taking up internships at several fashion firms.

Hence, young Priyanka Gupta had been fighting her demons for a while. Family sources said that she had searched the internet for how to be happy, feel less lonely and how to hang oneself to death.

The girl’s father had passed away a few years ago and she live with her mother.

Priyanka was found hanging by her mother who with the help of neighbours took her to a nearby hospital. However, she was declared dead upon arrival. Her family has not suspected any foul play into the incident.
A case has been registered by the police.
