'People Of Determination' Magazine Honours Special Olympics

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 17th Mar, 2019) The Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research, ECSSR, has published the 3rd edition of 'The People of Determination' magazine.

The magazine focuses on the achievements and creative deeds of individuals in this important segment of the UAE society. It also sheds light on their own world and the biggest challenges they face in life.

This special edition of the magazine coincides with the ongoing Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. It focuses on this unique sporting event and the significance of having the UAE hosting it. It also covers the cultural and humanitarian message the Special Olympics conveys to the world.

Prof. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of the ECSSR, in his editorial comment said, "The UAE is a bright spot of hope, optimism, and tolerance for all human beings, especially the people of determination and the people of special needs everywhere. The deeper message of the Special Olympics is that the world is united for the sake of the joy and solidarity of the people of determination so that they can proceed with confidence and determination to prove that they have potential and creative capabilities."

The magazine has articles on a number of eminent personalities who have played an important role in organising the Special Olympics. These include Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Chair of the Special Olympics UAE Board; Mohamed Abdullah Al Junaibi, Head of Presidential Protocol at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019; and Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of the Special Olympics UAE.

The magazine also highlights the most important achievements of the UAE team from 1999 to 2017 and the games of the Special Olympics including the sports of athletics, badminton, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, boules, bowling and biking, equestrianism, football, golf, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, among others.

It also covers important aspects of the Special Olympics, the participation of the UAE team, and the efforts by the UAE to get the message of the Olympics out in the best possible way. It includes the following titles, 'Home of Hope', 'The Will Team, Your Country Is Proud of You', 'Special Olympics World Games: Medical Preparations', 'Host Cities Programme: Cultural Arm of the Special Olympics', and 'The UAE Launches a Smart Digital Platform for the Special Olympics Abu Dhabi 2019'.

The magazine is part of the efforts exerted by several institutions in the UAE that aim to pay special attention to this segment of society and to the vital issues concerning it.
