The Best Minister Award Reflects Future Government Philosophy: Mohammed Al Gergawi

The Best Minister Award reflects future government philosophy and the plans of the World Government Summit, WGS, for shaping a better future for mankind, asserted the Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future and the Summit’s Chairman as the WGS organisation signed a partnership agreement with PricewaterhouseCoopers, PwC, Middle East.
DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 18th Dec, 2018) The Best Minister Award reflects future government philosophy and the plans of the World Government Summit, WGS, for shaping a better future for mankind, asserted the Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future and the Summit’s Chairman as the WGS organisation signed a partnership agreement with PricewaterhouseCoopers, PwC, middle East.
Al Gergawi noted that this collaboration to select the world’s best minister reaffirms the summit’s commitment to exploring ministerial experiences, and celebrating innovative models that have propelled government work, paving the way for the Governments of the Future.
As per the agreement, PwC will offer advisory services to the WGS organisation and take part in evaluating candidates for the Best Minister Award for the next three years. The partnership was signed by the Summit’s Managing Director Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, and Hani Ashkar, Middle East Senior Partner at PwC.
Omar Sultan Al Olama underlined the importance of expanding the World Government Summit’s network of partners, as the world’s largest gathering dedicated to forecasting and building the future, in order to support governments around the world and catalyse efforts to shape the future.
"The Best Minister Award sheds light on inspiring accomplishments and outstanding ministerial experiences," Al Olama said. "Our objective is to promote these experiences and benefit from them as an example for developing government sector and implementing initiatives that benefit the community."
Hani Ashkar: An Opportunity to Shed Light on Government Innovation Meanwhile, PwC’s Hani Ashkar noted, "We take pride in our partnership with the World Government Summit to organise this award, which presents a unique opportunity to highlight innovation in the government sector and introduce outstanding government models.
"
"Within the rapid transformations taking place around the world, the government sector must evolve in parallel and lead countries through the digital age, setting the standards for the future", he added.
Eight Candidates for World’s Best Minister Eight ministers from around the world will be competing for the Best Minister Award, which relies on various selection criteria and procedures to determine the countries that have made a concrete contribution to community development, as well as individual ministers who have contributed to social and economic sectors.
Ministers from the UAE were excluded from the award by the World Government Summit Organisation, to preserve neutrality, independence and credibility.
The judging panel consists of prominent experts from international organisations, academic institutions and private companies, who will select the winning minister based on a set of criteria including social and economic impact, as well as scalability, repeatability, innovations and leadership.
The winner is set to be revealed on the sidelines of the seventh annual World Government Summit, taking place in Dubai from 10th to 12th February, 2019.
The previous three winners were Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, in 2018; Awa Marie Coll-Seck, Minister of Health of the Republic of Senegal, in 2017, and Greg Hunt, Australian Minister of the Environment, who won the first edition of the Award in 2016.
