6th Korea Festival commemorates centennial of Sheikh Zayed

The 6th Korea Festival in the UAE is celebrating 'Year of Zayed', featuring performances and exhibitions in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UA

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 18th Oct, 2018) The 6th Korea Festival in the UAE is celebrating 'Year of Zayed', featuring performances and exhibitions in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UAE, the event which started on Wednesday, will run until 14th November at the Abu Dhabi National Theatre, with art exchange exhibitions, and Korean traditional dance and contemporary performances.

The Festival highlights Sheikh Zayed role in strengthening the bilateral relationship between both countries.

The inauguration was attended by Park Kang-ho, Ambassador of South Korea to the UAE, Ruba Al Hassan, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, and a number of diplomats and cultural leaders from both countries.

The 'Remembrance of Zayed, Lights in Consonance' media show marks the opening of the Festival, showcasing the story of Sheikh Zayed and the long-standing relationship between the UAE and Korea. Side events include Korean traditional music and dance performances by the Jindo National Gugak Centre.

The Festival also includes a UAE - Korea art exhibition titled 'Year of Zayed', which will be held during the period between October 24th and November 14th at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Centre.

The exhibition showcases 32 artworks that pay tribute to Sheikh Zayed by Emirati and Korean artists.
