(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 25th Sep, 2018) ABU DHABI, 25th September 2018 (WAM) - The Executive Committee of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council revealed today the details of the fourth pillar of ‘Ghadan 21’, Liveability, which aims to support Abu Dhabi’s path towards becoming a leader in Liveability standards.
Initiatives under the fourth pillar are divided based on three themes; enhancing transport, mobility, and the urban environment; encouraging active lifestyle and well-being; and launching cultural programmes and projects.
The liveability initiatives aim to make Abu Dhabi one of the world’s top cities to live in and will be further designed through innovative futurist ideation exercises with inputs from global experts on mobility, quality of life and culture.
Initiatives under the theme "Enhancing transport, mobility, and the urban environment' will focus on improving the overall urban masterplan of Abu Dhabi and improving the transportation infrastructure through upgrading existing roads and tunnels, as well as establishing new transport projects.
Initiatives also include building new technology internet/telco infrastructure.
To encourage active lifestyle, initiatives will focus on promoting sport and physical activities through better facilities and programmes, and improving the health and wellness of the public through awareness campaigns and programmes.
The cultural initiatives will focus on developing cultural and heritage sites and centres, as well as developing and attracting cultural events, locally and internationally.
The Executive Committee was tasked last June to develop a detailed plan for the Abu Dhabi Development Accelerator Programme 'Ghadan 21', with a budget of AED50 billion over three years and which was recently endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The ‘Ghadan 21’ programme has four pillars, namely business and Investment, Society, Knowledge & Innovation, and Liveability.
