Abu Dhabi International Book Fair To Promote Emirati Identity At Cairo Book Fair

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, will organise a stand for the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, ADIBF, at the upcoming Cairo International Book Fair, which is returning for its 50th edition from 23rd January to 5th February
ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 22nd Jan, 2019) The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, will organise a stand for the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, ADIBF, at the upcoming Cairo International Book Fair, which is returning for its 50th edition from 23rd January to 5th February.
This will be the first time both DCT Abu Dhabi and ADIBF have both had a stand and an official delegation in attendance at the Cairo International Book Fair. The UAE’s participation aims to promote the country’s rich Emirati literary tradition. It also aims to promote Abu Dhabi as a tourist destination in the Egyptian market.
Abdulla Majed, Acting Executive Director of Dar Al Kutub Sector, said that the UAE’s participation at the Cairo Book Fair highlights the cultural bonds between the UAE and Egypt and embodies the deep connection between the two peoples. Majed also explained that the great efforts placed in this book fair by DCT Abu Dhabi demonstrates the keenness of the UAE to participate in this prestigious festival.
"This year’s participation will include various activities, which reflects the diverse nature of the UAE cultural scene," he said.
Majed added, "This cultural event represents a platform to present and promote our rich and deep-rooted Emirati literature. It gathers some of the most acclaimed publishers and pioneers of the book industry from the Arab region and the world. The UAE’s participation is a significant part on our list of international events we seek to be present at all year-round, and it implies the combined mutual efforts of Egypt and the UAE in the fields of cultural cooperation."
The UAE's participation this year includes interactive readings, as well as a stand design that encapsulates the uniqueness of the UAE. The ADIBF stand will welcome visitors with a range of diverse cultural and entertainment activities, introducing visitors to the unique Emirati heritage.
